This is a novel about Tollund Man who may have lived in Denmark 2000 years ago. Although I visited the bogs to gain the right mood, I have mainly used my own imagination.

My Torlund met a group of traders and was accepted in their village by the Elder. There was love, suspicion, and an unjust verdict. Torlund became a sacrificial victim and was thrown into one of the bogs.

His is the most complete human body ever found because tannin from the earth preserved his skin. I made this drawing in Silkeborg Museum.

"Evening deepened. Harvest seemed to penetrate the tent; sweet herbs, hashish and body scents pervaded. More than all the perfumes of the East ran through him as Torlund visualised the gatherings with that far away, compassionate priest: He wanted to be on a hillside himself to transmit from his similar forces within; to preach. But for now he was the guest of these traders.

Juten remained by his side the whole evening, surreptitiously narrowing the gap that Torlund tried so hard to keep between them. Yet he had to be drawn to the stranger who had lured him with such tales."
